A Journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step

3 Peaks, 2 Legs and a Bike - Initial Plan 2007 Initial Plan

Now (9th Sept 2006) I have done a 100 mile cycle ride and think that I need to revise my plan, so I think I'll have to add another day in. Running a mountain an cycling my planned distance I think will be too much so my revised plan is:
Day 1
  • Run up Snowdon via the Snowdon Ranger path
  • Run down Snowdon to Pen-y-Pass via the Pyg Track
  • Cycle part way (around 50 miles) towards the Lake District
  • Day 2
  • Cycle most of the rest of the way (100+ miles)to The Lake District
  • Day 3
  • Cycle the last 50 or so mile to the Lake District (Wast Water)
  • Run over Scafell and into Borrowdale
  • Day 4
  • Cycle half way to Scotland (100+ miles)
  • Day 5
  • Cycle the rest of the way (100+ miles) to Fort William
  • Day 6
  • Run up and down Ben Nevis

  • I think this is more realistic. My cycle ride was only 105 miles and was 7hrs on the bike, 9.5 hrs elapsed time with breaks for refreshments. Even with no breaks this is a long time cycling and combining that with running over a mountain at the moment is too much, unless I can make some dramatic improvements in my cycling performance.
