A Journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step

Fund raising for Headway - the brain injury association Fund raising for Headway - the brain injury association

While I was very fortunate in not needing the services of Headway after my accident, there are alot of people who do rely on them after less serious incidents.

One of the affects of my accident has been that I have now raised funds for Headway - the brain injury association as most people who have suffered brain injury are not able to contemplate running 1 mile let alone a marathon or further.

I had my accident in Jan 2003.

These are the fund raising efforts that I have carried out on Headways behalf, most recent at the top:

2012 : I have been struggling with full time working for the last 4 years which means that I have not been in a position to do any planning or a reasonable amount of training for any epic mutli-day fund raising challenge, so this year I am doing a 100 mile bike ride organised by the Association for Glycogen Storage Diseases with a work colleague Tim Corso.

Although I'm fund raising for Association for Glycogen Storage Diseases, I will also be making a donation to Headway for each donation made through Virgin Money Giving.

There is an account of our ride in my Event Results page and at AGSD Giant account, between us we raised over £1700 for AGSD, and I have made a smaller dontation to Headway Swindon

2008 : My plan was to not do any major fundraising event in 2008. I ran the Headway Jersey marathon in October again but I did no fund raiser for the year.

In October 2007 I started working a 5 day week which is hard enough without having to train for a multiday event.

June 2007 : A run of the 3 peaks (Snowdon, Scafell and Ben Nevis) and cycle the 540 miles between them. 3 Peaks, 2 Legs and a Bike.
I made as much use of the Sustrans routes as possible for the cycling stages.
Raised £1600 for Headway.

June 2006 : I ran the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Raised £3000 for Headway.

March 2005 :I got a team together to take part in the High Peak Marathon. Between us we raised £3000 for Headway.

May 2004 : Neolithic Marathon. Raised £2000 which I split between Headway and the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust who organise the event.
